Let be pragmatic here, some of the biggest footballers in the world like Christiano Ronaldo did not need a degree in physical education or human kinetics to be one of the biggest sports stars.

We all know that the music industry in Nigeria is growing very fast. It is one of the richest careers in Nigeria. Alas, having a degree in Music will not expose you to the limelights, only talents will. We all know that most of our famous superstars are not even graduates; some who are graduates did not study music.

Having a degree in Music in any known Nigerian university would not guarantee you to become a famous musician, the real truth is that you would still pass through that same road that others who do not even have any degree would pass. Crop science is an agriculturally related course which is narrowed down to the science of crops. The employment opportunities presented by crop science as a course is extremely low. In Nigeria, most graduates who study crop science end up as teachers in the primary, secondary and if lucky in the tertiary level

7.       Animal science


. Animal science is mostly concerned with animals. It is concerned with the science of those animals in terms of what they eat and how they stay healthy. In other words, they can be seen as doctors for animals. In Nigeria, animal science does not offer so much employment opportunities. Apart from the employment opportunities of working in a commercial animal rearing farms which non-professionals are now involved in our teaching career, there are no more employment opportunities that await graduates in the field of animal science.

8.      Home Economics


Home economics is concerned with the economics of the home. Home economics lay emphasis on such things like care of the kitchen, care of the toilet and so on. This course would certainly have extremely low employment opportunities.

The knowledge and skills acquired from the study of home economics can be acquired by anybody at anywhere. Therefore, anybody even with an O’level certificate can perform the jobs of home economics which are mostly jobs found at a fast food center.

9.      Social studies/Sociology


Social studies/ Sociology is concerned with the society and man. The knowledge and skills obtained during the study of sociology offer certainly no place for its application. A sociologist cannot even work in the secondary level of education because at this level more than 80 % of secondary schools in Nigeria do not study social studies.

10.  Adult Education


Adult education is concerned with educating adults who may not have the privilege to study while they were still in their youths. Adult education can be studied in the universities that are situated in Nigeria. Graduates in the field of adult education are provided with a very slim opportunity for employment.

The only guaranteed employment opportunity for this course is, of course, the training of adults in educational centers. Graduates in Adult education may not even have the chance to teach in the primary and secondary level of education.
